When choosing a micro machine tool, how to identify the motor power size

Definition of the input power of the motor
The voltage across the motor multiplied by the current flowing through the motor does not equal the output power. Output power is the power value at which the motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Since electric motors cannot completely convert electrical energy into mechanical energy, a small part of electrical energy will be converted into other forms of energy (mainly thermal energy) and lost due to the actual coil resistance, shaft friction and other factors during normal work. Therefore, the output power is smaller than the input power.

Motor power calculation
Motors have a parameter called power factor, which can be simply understood as the efficiency with which the motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. If the power factor of the motor is 0.5, then an input power is 1KW, and its output power is 500W. That is to say, the output power of 500W means that the motor can convert 1KW of electrical energy into 500W of mechanical rotational energy, that is, the load capacity is 500W, which is the output power.

To give an inappropriate example: the input power is the amount of food a person eats, and the output power is how much work the person can do. The ratio is called efficiency.

So you get it? A large appetite (input power) is not necessarily useful, and it is really useful to be able to work (output power).

The power of the motor cannot be simply compared with the size of the value, but it is necessary to first see whether the rated power or the output power is marked by the manufacturer. In fact, the most important information for consumers to know is the output power, that is, the power you can actually experience in the end, not just the data on paper.
